Abstract

The Cloud Testing is a testing approach that takes full advantage of cloud computing technologies. The technique allows reducing the time spent in running the tests and simulating a realistic traffic level for the applications. Furthermore, it allows the tests themselves are scalable in order to meet the high demands of high traffic web applications. Today the scenario is completely different. With the help of tools like VMwareFusion and many others, you can run various combinations of software on the same machine and thus run multiple server instances on the same hardware. Thus, the creation of the test environment can be made by simply executing a command (Wang Jun, 2011, pp.176-178).

Introduction

Cloud computing has long been a hype and it's so much talk about it. Unlike other hype, an increase in the use and consequently, a trend to move services into the cloud has been reported. The big players in the software industry, IBM, Google, Microsoft and Apple now also offer cloud-based services.

Discussion

Amazon was one of the pioneers in this field, today the cloud services is the fastest growing division of the online mail order company. But not only the large companies rely on cloud computing, including the small and medium enterprises are increasingly offering cloud-based services, or at least fall back on the provision of services on a cloud infrastructure (Nurmi, Wolski, Grzegorczyk, Obertelli, Soman, Youseff, & Zagorodnov, 2009, pp. 124-131).

Adoption of Cloud in Public Sector

A number of Federal Government agencies have adopted this new technology and are enjoying the benefits by increasing their efficiency of working. A good example of implementation of cloud computing in a government agency is NASA Nebula. It has provided different scientists and researchers and easy access to its IT database and services through cloud computation. Before this, the researches would have to waste a lot of time in collecting the required information for researches.

Analysis of the Change Efforts

As the scope of the cloud implementation is the biggest one in the history of cloud computing, extraordinary efforts were required for designing and developing the framework and infrastructure of the computation system. This switch of Federal Government to cloud computing will define how governments through out the world will operate in the future. This shift of IT usage in the government agencies will transform the whole IT services and life cycle. IT which was once thought to be a thing of private services will now become a nation level commodity.

Cloud computation comes with various services and models; NIST has devised a roadmap to identify the services required in an agency. Every successful cloud implementation is based on how well the implementation was planned and executed. The need of inclusion of a service in the cloud depends on both the readiness of service and its value.
