Research Proposal

The globalization of trade and strong growth in emerging markets are the main cause of the increase in the environmental issues. Asian companies are already consolidating their fleets. The low cost airlines have made massive purchases of airplanes of the same type, i.e., of low consumption of fuel. Therefore, there is an environment related problem which has to be resolved immediately. The company needs to develop its business as a sustainable and socially responsible entity in the society.

Part 1

For this research proposal, we have gathered a lot of data from different primary and secondary sources. Therefore, the overall context of the research is well established. The purpose of the research is well defined which is that the study will help the company, AirAsia, and other low cost airlines in developing sustainability in an effective manner. Since they have to be highly sustainable in terms of surviving in the competitive market, this research will provide them with the alternatives to follow to be sustained in the market. The topic of the research is definitely interesting in the academic and practical perspective. The aspects of the research is clearly defined in terms of research aims and objectives; which are to identify the alternatives which can be adopted by the low cost airlines, such as AirAsia Company, to create sustainable development to survive in the competitive market.

Part 2

The research question is well conceived as it is to prepare the sustainability development plan for the AirAsia Company. It is also to identify the hurdles in achieving sustainability. There is a formal and structured format of the proposal as it will define the aims and objectives of the study, the research questions, as well as the methodology through which we will gather the data on the topic.

For this research, we will use the mixed research techniques that is the quantitative and qualitative both. In addressing the research associated with the use of a mixed methodological approach, we hope to contribute to the debate on current epistemological which has less emphasis on the differences on the alliances and possible complementarities between the quantitative and the qualitative approach. Quantitative research generally entails a survey or observation of as large and representative random sample, using methods such as the written survey questionnaire or the quantitative interview the numerical characteristics of one or more of certain characteristics measured.

In comparison to quantitative methods, the qualitative approach is characterized by much greater openness and flexibility. The survey, for example, qualitative interviews and focus groups, is free and exploratory, in the qualitative observation, e.g. the shadowing is interesting, particularly the subjectivity of the observer and the observed.
