Introduction:

The Word Sweden is derived from old English "Sweopeod", means "People of the Swedes”. In old days, Swedes was supposed to be merchant seaman and was known for their far-reaching trade. (Moberg 2005) A well-known age for Sweden was the age of Vikings, beginning around 800 AD, and roughly lasting to about 1060. Vikings were famous for their seamanship, valor, and skill as warriors, trade, and on some occasions, looting of foreign territory. In the 17th Century Sweden started expanding its territories so to form the Swedish Empire .Modern Sweden came forth out of the Kalmar Union which was constituted in 1397.Later on, Sweden gradually became a Christian kingdom, and now it's the third largest country in European Union in terms of its area with population of more than 9.4 million.

Monarchy of Sweden

The territory of Sweden is the legitimate monarchy of the Kingdom of Sweden (Lundqvist 2004). As Sweden is a representative majority rule based on a parliamentary system, the crowned head has a largely traditional role, though officially she or he is head of state and holds the most eminent public office in Sweden and the highest military and social rank.

Gustavus Adolphus

Gustavus Adolphus born on 9th December 1594 in Stockholm and was famous for his Latinized name as Gustavus Adolphus Magnus ,he was the oldest son of Duke Charles of the Vasa dynasty and was considered as one of the founder of the Swedish empire .He ruled Sweden for more than 21 years (1611-1632), he was the one who makes Sweden one of the greatest power of Europe, and perhaps the most important power in the 30 Years' War after Spain and France .As a general of his army, he was well-known in setting up the mobile artillery on battle field and for his aggressive tactics(Gstöhl 2002). His most prominent military victory was the battle of Breitenfeld .He was also called “Father of Modern Warfare” because of his innovative ideas in the field of military.

He was not only an intelligent general but was also responsible for major reforms in Sweden government. The most important was the institution of the first parish registrations which helps Central Government in improving their tax system .He was good at making policies and was always appreciated by the common people. Because of its popularity his era is also known as the “Good old Swedish times (Björklund 2005).” He died on November 6th 1632 ...
