Abstract

Natural medicine has been a useful treatment since the ancient times, and normally nature provides a wide variety of plants which contain medicinal properties. The main ingredients found in the stems, roots, leaves, flowers and also seeds. Many plants have natural healing properties that have been found to cure different diseases, for instance magnesium for restless leg syndrome, Hypericum Perforatum for depression and D-mannose for bladder infection. Whereas synthetic medicine used about a century ago and it acts faster and are more effective in some cases. Basically synthetic medicine is the only way of getting better than natural medicine, nevertheless they have many drawbacks. Those drugs can help people with one issue, but they cause much more problem on the side, for instant quinine used to treat malaria, digoxin for heart condition and clonazepam used to treat depression11. Consequently in this paper, we have studied synthetic medicines derived from natural product. This paper discusses the history of Synthetic medicines. Moreover, in this paper, we have discussed depression and its treatment with a synthetic medicine as well as with a natural medicine. Medicine, in the broad sense is a kind of chemical that has an influence on the processes occurring in a living organism. But, following this definition, very few chemicals do not need to include in the list of drugs. Therefore, a more accurate drug include any substance that can be used to diagnose, treat, cure or mitigate any disease symptoms or for prevention and disease prevention. Additionally this paper compares two drugs of depression. One drug is synthetic medicine which is Clonazepam and the other is the natural medicine, hypericum perforatum L.

Key words: Synthetic Medicines, Natural medicines, Clonazepam, Hypericum Perforatum.

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine and has the general properties, with an anticonvulsant effect predominates. It is used orally in the treatment of certain intractable epilepsies and other drugs in epileptic encephalopathies that of the child, most often referred to under the terms of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and West syndrome. It is used by injection in the treatment of status epilepticus. The pharmacological actions of clonazepam (anticonvulsant, sedative, muscle relaxant and anxiolytic effect) are qualitatively similar to other benzodiazepine derivatives. The efficacy of a hypnotic clonazepam has not yet been fully evaluated (Bagetta et al, 2011, pp. 67).

The structure of Clonazepam is as follows:

The exact mechanism of action is unknown, but is estimated that these effects are mainly due to their synergistic action with the inhibitory action of GABA in neurons of the CNS. Clonazepam is absorbed quickly and all from the gastrointestinal tract. The absolute bioavailability is about 90%. There is little information on the distribution of clonazepam. Clonazepam 3L/Kg has volume and protein binding of 85% (Singer et al, ...
