Introduction

It was in the year 1821, that Mexico after a lengthy struggle and hard work was able to snatch the independence from Spain their struggle marked with armed movement along with many political plots. However, their struggle lacked any central leadership; people in multiple pockets fought under various leaders, therefore, the people of Mexico lacked any unified resistance against Spain. However, the colonists of Texas went under separate agreements, which encouraged the, self-government, although all these agreements were made part of the constitution of 1824. The scenario began to change from 1832, and in the year 1833, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna came into the power as the dictator and thus demolished the constitution of 1824(Frank, p.35).

It was Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who tried his level best and thought of various ways to assert the control of central government on Texas. However, the people of Texas were not too pleased by the idea of Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna seizing the power. He took various steps to improve his image in the public and tried that people stood by the government and for the government. Therefore, he took steps to block the entry of new American immigrants into the land of Texas. He with his highest authority tried to assert the laws against slavery in Texas and laid several financial embargos, on those who tend to be involved in the trade with the United States at that time. However, his steps could not mould the hearts, and minds of the people in his favor and, as a result, he kept on increasing the presence of Mexican troops in Texas. This act, intended to ensure a more tight control of the central government.
