The Great Compromise of 1787

Introduction

"Great compromise" in 1787 or the "Connecticut Compromise" in 1787 refers to the settlement of the dispute, which rose from the conflicting views expressed by the Virginia Plan and the Plan of New Jersey. These plans, proposed changes to the Articles of Confederation, which was to the Philadelphia Convention of 1787. However, while the Virginia plan seems to be greater representation of more populous states in the national government, the New Jersey plan was proposed by small states to prevent the U.S. government's balance from tipping in favor of more populous states like Virginia Plan (www.buzzle.com).
