This system constructs roads and highways but make it sure that little damage is done to the environment. What is Sustainability?

According to Shelbourne (et al., 2006) one of the major issues of the 21st century is the detraining situation of the environment. People in order to provide its organization strategic advantage have started construction along their organization. A sustainable development is to develop or construct to fulfil the present needs of the customers and not thinking about the future perspective of the upcoming generation. According to the researchers sustainable construction is defined as the practices for sustainable development in a society. According to Hill and Bowen (2010) sustainability is a concept that is used in order to understand the concept of the sustainable construction that is carried on in many countries. The sustainable construction principle is based on four key pillars on which the foundation of sustainable construction stands, these pillars are: social, economic, biophysical and technical. The principles and over-arching is used in order to develop a checklist in order to check that all the activities are performed properly or not.

There are two methods used in order to manage the sustainability activities that are Environmental Assessment and Environmental Management System. In order to make a project or a construction work more sustainable then it is required to increase knowledge so that all the obstacles can be overcome. In order to create a sustainable project there are certain characteristics that are required, these are: different corrective measures taking by the team, dynamic participation of the team members, knowledge from the previous experiences, different nature of projects, time limitations and budget limitations. In order to achieve sustainability the developers need to have more knowledge and experience so that the mistakes done in the past are not repeated and enhancement is reflected in the project.
