Although America was discovered by an Italian Christopher Columbus, the name for the Italian Amerigo Vespucci, and studied Italian adventurers such as Giovanni Verrazzano, and John Cabot Giovanni Caboto was born, he Wasn t the end of 19 century, the Italians began to emigrate in large numbers.

Between 1880 and 1920, four million immigrants went to the U.S. from Italy. They came mostly from the southern provinces, the heel and toe of the Italian boot. These areas are lagging behind the industrial area of northern Italy, where agriculture was modernized. Unification of the country has raised hopes of progress in bringing the South, but this hope has not been filled. In addition to economic and political factors mentioned above, there were other reasons that contributions moved millions of people to flee their homeland to seek a new life in the United States.

Natural disasters and disease may affect each decision. Malaria and cholera were two diseases that made weak many of the people. La Miseria was further exacerbated by recurrent earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis which killed tens of thousands and destroyed entire communities.

Many Italian-Americans arrived in the United States in the early 1900 S. When they saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time, they were encouraged by the prospect of success. Some wanted to spend only a few months in America, earn as much money as they can, and go home. Half returned home (LaRuffa, 1982). After processing at Ellis Island in Upper New York Bay and other immigration centers, many of these rural Italians were in the urban ghetto, like Manhattan S downside Eat, working at menial jobs, and crammed into narrow railroad flats, not enough heat and confidentiality. Others were linked to the West, seeking his fortune in the goldfields of California. But mostly, they settled in urban industrial areas - Boston, Newark, Philadelphia and Chicago, where unskilled jobs were plentiful. The Italians were required to work on a plane for low wages. One public notice of the recruitment of workers in 1895 advertised the following rates of wages for general labor:

It's hard to imagine America without a rich and diverse contribution of the Italians. Life in the United States among many cultures, one does not stop to ask who created or contributed to the fact that one of the benefits. Many of the important elements that Americans often take for granted came from Italy or were provided by Italian-Americans. Contribution to the United States from Italy and Italian-Americans so much, it's hard to list them all. They range from fashion and food to the music and science (LaRuffa, 1988).
