In one's life, one must have seen crying and requesting a child "kindly do not kill me, I do not want to die, I'm too young to die!" It was a cry most commonly heard by a child who was about to be murdered by a violent crime they had committed. What society considers a crime of violence? A violent crime in modern society is rape, murder, or a malicious act with intent to cause bodily harm. One of the main topics of discussion today is the death penalty for minors.

In words of Gavel (2002) “for almost one hundred years, the juvenile justice system has been about protecting children is used to the fullest extent of the law and defend their rights.” This case involved a 16-year-old, who was sentenced to death but was released because the courts have not listened to the most important issues.
