The Power Industry

Introduction to the Industry

The industries that are involved in the sales or production on any form of energy, including extraction of fuel, refining, distribution and manufacturing are considered as the power industry. The electric power industry is the universal power industry, and includes the generation of electricity, and the sales and distribution of electricity. This industry is integrated with a number of different industries as the renewable energy industry, coal industry, gas industry, even the nuclear power industry which contribute to the generation of electric power.

The development of the human society is because of the key role of the use of energy and power, helping the adaption and controlling of the environment. The power industry includes a number of industries, contributing to the overall power generation as required by a country or society, and it is a basic necessity to use and harness, to benefit and sustain a society. According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, great reduction in the demand for electricity prices was because of the 2008 recession in the global economy. Most countries that use natural gas for electricity generation import it from other countries that have reserves. In comparison, a lot more countries use their own coal reserves for electricity generation or alternatively import coal that is nevertheless a much cheaper fuel than gas. This makes electricity generation with natural gas relatively expensive. At the same time, one of the greatest advantages of gas turbines is their very quick response time to demand—they can reach full power from idle in just seconds. As a result of both the high costs and the quick responsiveness, most countries are using gas-fired power plants to meet peak loads.

Power industry

All the industries that are involved in sales or production on any form of energy, including extraction of fuel, refining, distribution and manufacturing are considered as the power industry. Large amount of fuel is consumed by modern societies, making the power industry a vital part of maintenance and the infrastructure in all countries and society. In modern societies, power usually refers to the generation and utilization of electricity as the universal power resource.

Theory technological requisite

The power industry includes a number of industries, contributing to the overall power generation as required by a country or society.

Petroleum industry

The petroleum industry incorporates all the oil companies, transportation of fuel, petroleum refiners, the sales at the gas stations to the end user.

Gas Industry

The gas industry includes the extraction of natural gas, the manufacturing of coal gas (syngas), and the sales and distribution related to gases. Natural gas (NG) is found in underground reservoirs and is a mixture that consists mostly of methane, together with other heavier hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide. Most important reserves of natural gas are found in Russia, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (Energy, Electricity).

The specific chemical characteristics of NG differ depending on the country and field, but in most cases NGs from different countries are mixed (sometimes special treatment is required to make ...
