The Role of Imagination In Don Quixote

Introduction

This book presents a wide range of topics to have different ways of reading and interpretations, ranging from basic reading and simple to a slightly more complex. Alonso Quejana is an individual who has been reading romances, and motivated to live the reality of the books that knight decides to arm themselves and go in search of adventure, and uphold justice and equality in people. This character within the book is labeled as crazy, since he lives in another reality that does not correspond to that of his time, yet I could not call it crazy, it is a subject that has decided to live another reality. He lives his imagination and is an extremely consistent and coherent. (Lowry, 176)

Discussion

Alonso Quejana is the main character of this book as he plays the role of Don Quixote, a man who is lost in a world of fantasies because he has read many books. Don Quixote as described in the book is much more stimulating than his own life, so it gives an idea to acknowledge the fantasies and take out completely genuine meaning out of it which is consistent with the morals. Don Quixote himself is proposed with a similarity in which traits are merged downhearted and furious, and just these configuration aids mental and temperamental surroundings of the character. Novel shows him deducing from anger at maturity to weigh down in traditional age, employing a clear vision and a poetic theoretical element that is undoubtedly positive.

For Don Quixote insight is certainty, and his world was what he visualizes it to be. He changed the line between fiction and truth with loving journey of chivalrous knights. He was the Knight who brought sadness by destructing havoc of Sad Countenance, demolishing justice and putting innocent into danger by disturbing them was his common act. He was the most unfavorable person known for his bad acts. But nobody knew he just wanted to make things right which eventually turned out to be wrong. Perception is reality, we all have heard of it, but we consider is as a reason or justification to give to the people's ideas regardless of how misguided and unreasonable it might be. Sometimes, only little effort is enough to come across the false perception that changes our views about reality. The character of this fictional knight reminds of a popular character of TV sitcom Michael Scott.

This book seems to represent ancient version of Michael in the character of Cervantes. Both stars comprises of almost same traits such as being loveable but at the same time becoming loony, their perception about reality and relationships is fully distorted and fictional. In this book he seems less brutal than Don Quixote, but Michael Scott is just as narcissistic and absurd, and after reading Cervantes' classic, one will be promised that the well renowned Spanish writer deserves the credit for showing inspiration in this star.
