The future is mystery. The predictions often prove wrong. Neither we can draw doomsday scenarios nor can we foretell the rosy future. The crystal ball gazers are many but accurate fewer. However, the future of the technology is definitely bright. But the moral standards would deteriorate in proportion to the increase in material prosperity. The dialectical materialism would wax but the influence of religion would wane. The last century witnessed the genesis of many inventions and scientific discoveries, which ameliorated the mankind but also, caused great destruction and genocide. The instincts of mankind would not evolve with the passage of time but would become parochial, racial and bigoted. Religious fanaticism now called fundamentalism is playing havoc as witnessed in rise in terrorism, manifested gruesomely in WTC bombing. That USA did not spare innocent persons in Afghanistan bashing is equally ghastly. The invention of computer would in future explode into households and information technology and cell communication would make and mar our lives. The future has positive and negative aspects but preponderantly the poor would become poorer and the rich richer. The man would be at loss till the Armageddon.

Ubiquitous Computing will permit people to share information in a more effectual and apparent manner. It will bear the capture and repeat of rich multimedia information such as video and audio. It assists the integration and access of this information, as well as context conscious computing. In addition, ubiquitous software services, such as music servers and data analysis applications, will permit people to work more competently in a wider diversity of settings. Ubiquitous computing, by contrast, aims at integrating computers seamlessly into the world at large

Ubiquitous World

A teen-ager pulls a packaged dinner from the kitchen freezer, scans it across a countertop Web pad and downloads cooking instructions from the food manufacturer. A computer system at the local supermarket receives an electronic replenishment order for the item and adds the same dinner to the family's weekly order.

Across town, the teen's mom stops on her way home to gas up the family car at a Web-ready pump. During the 90 seconds it takes her to fill the tank, she checks the news headlines and downloads directions to the site of her daughter's saxophone performance later that evening.

Welcome to the not-so-distant future of ubiquitous computing, when people will work and play using a variety of simple networked devices or information appliances, many of which tap into the same databases of consumer data anytime, anywhere.

In the ubiquitous world, everyday household appliances will also be Internet-enabled to automatically and constantly communicate with. their manufacturers and with one another. Instructions on a packaged dinner scanned across the screen of a Web-ready fridge, for example, might automatically set the oven to the proper cooking temperature for the dinner.
