Introduction

For any country, its future holds great value because it is a reflection of what the country has been through in the past. The thinkers in any country cannot dwell about its future till they have observed and analyzed the country's past. For a country like the United States, the past and present are of pertinent importance. Many breakthrough changes, transformations and inventions have taken place in the United States in the last century, which makes one wonder about the milestones the country can achieve in the upcoming years. Many goals are yet to be accomplished and many more records have to be made, this is something that is inevitable for Americans.

Time keeps changing and with time, everything changes. For a country like the United States that is so rich in resources and so technologically advanced, one can easily anticipate that the country will continue to foster and grow further, technologically advancing itself to meet the requirements of the changing times to come. There are certain trends that can be predicted for United States by the year 2110.

Health care

The field of health care will witness major technological advancements, much to the bewilderment of the people. In his speech, Chairman of Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke had said that in the upcoming decades, many forces will be responsible for molding the economy of United States and its society, but none of the factors will face effects as pervasive as that of aging of population (Elwood, 2007). As demographic changes continue to take place, it can be predicted that the statistics will change rapidly, and that will be reflected in people living longer lives and having higher life expectancies (Elwood, 2007). As research and development continues to take place in the field of medicine and health care, it can be clearly noticed that concepts such as those of scientology are being worked upon and people are working towards preservation and elongation of life. Plastic surgery and many such unique medical procedures are commonly used by people as a measure to 'preserve' their youth and their bodies. There is great emphasis towards production of artificial body parts and many transplants continue to take place every day in world's hospitals. All these measures are aimed at saving lives and helping people achieve higher expectancy of life.

By the time this century has passed, it can be easily fathomed that people would have moved towards even greater advancements in the field of medicine and healthcare. People move towards creating clones of themselves, and will also work on modifying genes to improve their health. Work on genes is already being carried out to see if certain diseases can be prevented by removing them from the fetus before the baby is born. Maybe then people would not even need gender correction surgeries because they will be able to correct the gender specifications of transgender babies while they are still in womb.
