Objectives of Research

“The objective of research is to explore the significance of tourism in new Rwanda.”

Rationale of Research

Recent history has shown that over the last three decades, armed conflict had an impact, sometimes very important, the continued existence of protected areas in some countries of East Africa. Whatever the forms that conflict (international, civil, tribal, rebellion, etc.), its potential impact on wildlife and their habitats can be diverse and persistent, which immediately compromises the future of tourism in the region?

For the case of Rwanda, it is customary to say that the tourism sector was (on the eve of the 90s) the third foreign exchange earner for the country, after coffee and tea, with revenues of $15 million (roughly 0.5% of GNP, 1989). The tourism industry seemed to have reached a certain stage of development. Today tourism represents only a very small percentage of Gross Domestic Product, but still the third largest source of foreign currency according to the Rwanda Tourism and National Parks (2001), and employ about 5,000 people (Robinson 2009, pp. 1).

Literature Review

Rwanda is one of the countries of the Great Lakes region, one of the most beautiful and spectacular of the entire African continent. Her beauty has been marred by bloody conflicts that rage in the newspapers economy and society of the country, nevertheless struggle to close heridas. In Rwanda, there are many splendid national parks in which to observe native wildlife widespread in the country. Among the most important are the volcanos Bisoke, the Sabyinyo and Susa in the volcano Bosoke.

Rwanda is now a resurrected nation, a country on the path of standardization in search of a better future. Peace and political stability achieved since 1995 have encouraged the return of millions of refugees. While the instigators of the genocide are tried by the ICTR in Arusha, Tanzania and the "gacaca" in Rwanda, the victims are buried in mass graves whose frank austerity affirms the government's ability to confront the past, not out of his role in the result of genocide, no political benefit.

During his time in power, the Government of Unity and Reconciliation has been a strong emphasis on reconciliation and has managed to forge a sense of national identity rather than ethnic, Rwanda. Autocratic structures and inequalities that have previously denied any real political participation of minorities have been replaced. Through the implementation of the recommendations which involve local communities in decision-making. Today, the revival is the tangible promise for the future. Tourism is expected to play a leadership role in promoting economic and political infrastructure, to ensure stability in the country (Pomeray 2000, pp. 4).

Among the Central African countries, Rwanda is bordered to the north of Uganda, east of Tanzania to the south by Burundi and west of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The combination of tropical location and high altitude ensures a temperate climate in the country all year. The temperatures rarely exceed 30° C during the day, and not fall below 15° C ...
