Throughout their military careers military personnel will always face some type of inspection, whether it's internal or external. Today, some units are inspected atleast four times a year in supply operations, for example, Command Supply Discipline Program, Command Inspection Program, Command Logistics Review Program, and maybe the Supply Excellence Award. How does the unit prepare for all these inspections? The unit faces many great challenges. There are a lot of steps taken to prepare for inspections. There are many checklists to follow but not enough time and personnel to accomplish these many tasks. There are many subjects areas which, the unit must cover that might be inspected. AR 11-l (Command Logistics Review Program), AR 735-5 (Policies and Procedures for Property Accountability), DA PAM 710-2-l (Using Unit Supply System Manual Procedures), and AR 710-2 (Supply Policy Below the Wholesale Level) are the governing policy documents and should be understood prior to an inspection.

In order to correct the growing digital incompatibility of these forces, it is essential that we modernize the PARNG M109 howitzer fleet through the continued procurement of the M109A6 Paladin and M992 Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicle (FAASV). These fully digital systems, along with automated command and control and, automated fire planning systems will assure the long-term compatibility and readiness of the PARNG's cannon field artillery force structure.

The PARNG also has a near-term requirement to field additional Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) and continue the modernization of PARNG rocket artillery units. Recent Army force structure changes include decisions to add the MLRS to divisional artillery units, and increase the number of MLRS battalions at corps level. The PARNG has a requirement for 11 additional MLRS battalions in echelon above division (EAD) units. In order to respond to these changes, the PARNG must continue to modernize it's artillery forces through the continued procurement of the MLRS.

In addition to these major delivery systems, numerous Army artillery modernization programs conducted by the Army, such as the fielding of the AN/TQM-41 Meteorological Measuring Set (MMS), do not address PARNG requirements. Full PARNG participation in future Army artillery modernization efforts is imperative to ensure adequate readiness, and compatibility of Army artillery

The PARNG also has a requirement for additional M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles. The upgraded M2A2 Bradley will improve task force compatibility with the M1 series tanks, modernize high-priority units within the enhanced readiness brigades and divisions, and improve M2 mobility, lethality and survivability to levels required by the U.S. Army. Upgrades for the M2 Bradley will ensure PARNG participation in planned Army digitization programs of this system.

The M113A3 upgrade of the M113 Family of Vehicles (FOV) is a critical part of PARNG mounted force modernization strategy. The M113A3 Reliability Improvement Selected Equipment (RISE) was designed to improve the mobility and survivability of the M113A2 Armored Personnel Carrier. The Army does not currently intend to continue fielding of the ...
