Union is a term that refers to an organization that makes negotiations with the corporation, business and firms on behalf of union members. Unions are also agents for social dialogue that includes all types of negotiation, consultation and exchange of information between representatives of governments, employers and workers on issues of common interest relating to economic policy and social between government, employers and employees. Indeed, unions are recognized as representative in their industry, which may sign with the government or the employers of the collective agreements that govern the working conditions for all employees.

Impact of Trade Unions on organization

Often there are problems associated with communication between employers and employees. The main reason for this is complex management systems. Employees become the members of the union because they want to connect in a more formal way. In favorable conditions, where there is perfect communication between employers and employees, occurrence of any problem appear to be extremely rare, thus, in such an instance employees may not join a trade union.

The existence of trade unions in the organizations has a very large impact on the way business is run by the owner, such as;

decisions made by management concerning workers should be consulted with the trade union,

the presence of compounds target restricts the freedom of establishment,

lack of a direct determination of their conditions of employment of employees,

employer does not have the freedom in terms of having members of his crew,

Negotiations with the trade unions are much more time consuming and require the employer to gain more experience.

The consequences of the absence of a trade union are;

loss of better communication with employees

impossible to negotiate with a group of partners

The existence of one compound has the advantage that the management is forced to carry out several rounds of negotiations. Relations with a number of trade unions take more time, but the strength of each organization at individual level is much small.

Influence of Trade Unions on firm performance

To have deep understanding of how a trade union may affect the performance of the firm, we shall examine both, the positive aspects as well as, the negative aspects of trade unions. First we shall discuss the positive influence of trade union on the organization.
