Certain components are essential for the proper growth and development of the employees and the consequent survival of the organization, with training being one such essential factor. Training employees is essential for the enhancement of their skills, capabilities as well as knowledge, and thus should be conducted at regular intervals (Bodimer, 2012). Thus, all the organizations require training and updating programs at regular intervals in order to ensure better performance of the employees for performing any particular job. Training also plays its part in molding and enhancing the and also tends to improve the performance and actions of the employees. Thus, training is never ending and continuous process that is essential for the proper development and growth of the organization.

Training is not only essential for new and upcoming employees of the organization, but the existing employees should also be trained and updated from time to time, on order to improve their progress and keep them in touch with the recent developments in the industry (Glover, 2011). It also holds central importance for the success and development of the organization and thus is essential for both the employers, old and existing employees at the same time.

It is generally assumed that training is required only for new employees while the old ones learn from their own experience and excel in the organization (Immen, 2010). The notion is, however, false and old employees too need ongoing training in order to increase the productivity of the organization and update the procedures and processes.

It is eminent to mention here that training and development is essential for all the business and organization, with some industries requiring more specialized skills as compared to others, for instance manufacturing industry. In a manufacturing industry, trained, experienced and competent individuals contribute to the increase in productivity and profitability of the organization (Immen, 2010. Thus, it can be concluded that the competitiveness of the organization depends on the amount of measures allotted for training and updating of the employees. In today's global economy, competition is on a continuous rise in every industry and thus all the organizations need to inculcate the modern skills and talents in their employees in order to keep them updated with the latest technology and skills (McNamara, 2012).

It has also been observed that small manufacturing industries generally show reluctance in training the employees, mainly because of the fact that there is small number of employees and they cannot afford to keep them away from job for long (Glover, 2011). However, it should be noted that although training takes some time and required considerable amount of time and money, but the process generally pays off and the increase in growth and development of the organization is worth the time and money (Willmer, 2012).
