Abstract

The education system requires drastic changes in its structure because of the changes that have been witnessed in industries due to the advent of information age. The organizational pursuit for maximum profit could only be materialized if the workforce of the organization is productive. Today, organizations need students that are proactive and think out of box. The current education system does not provide an applicative framework, which is why some of its provisions need to change. The paper will discuss the process through which the dream of change in education system can be materialized and will also discuss the type of leadership that can assist the process.

Introduction

For a student, living in this information age, it becomes necessary to change along with the rapidly changing systems. Most of the businesses emphasize upon the need of recruiting a workforce that is highly skilled and does not resist change. A business exists to maximize its profits, which is why it needs people that are highly productive. To achieve a higher-level of productivity, the workforce of an organization has to be educated and trained in a particular way. Most of the managers at organizations have been complaining about the education system as the students are not acquainted with an applicative approach. Some provisions of the education system need to change to provide a student with an innovative problem-solving and applicative approach. It is believed that transformational leadership can initiate the process of change in education system because they have the capability to push the change.

How change occurs

Some leaders in the education system recognize that a change in the system is inevitable but implementation of the process becomes troublesome if people within a system are reluctant to change. The process of change is more of a collaborative effort that is initiated by a leader and supported by the followers. The reason behind the failures that were witnessed in the past was the lag in communication system as the policymakers failed to communicate the pattern of change to all the stakeholders that were involved in the education system; these stakeholders would include parents, teachers, administrators and students. The resistance shown by the stakeholders is likely to be witnessed if they are detached from the change process.

It is a known fact that the world doesn't change because of some random slogans by the administrators of a system. It is a collaborative process that does not require changing people individually. The change is initiated in networks so that people with common interests can welcome that change and promote it. To make the process successful, it is necessary to bond with people that do not thwart the process but support the implementation (Wheatley & Frieze, 2006).
