Obesity is a condition characterized by excess body fat distributed across the board in various areas of the body fat. In most cases, obesity is assessed by the weight it should be noted that there is no strict equivalence between weight and obesity because the weight involved, in addition to fat mass, bone, water and muscle. Obesity is defined by a Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Mass Index (BMI). BMI is calculated by dividing the person weight by the square of height (kg/m2). If this index is greater than or equal to 30, the individual is considered obese. Between 25 and 30, we talk about pre obesity. From 40 kg / m 2, we speak morbid obesity.
Public Health Strategies
In response to the growth of this epidemic, the World Health Organization (WHO), promoted the Global Strategy on Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Health for the prevention of chronic diseases, which Mexico joined in 2004. Today, United States of America is ranked as first country suffering from it. This high prevalence of overweight and obesity is a priority public health problem that requires the implementation of a national policy which recognizes the multi factorial origin of the problem. The epidemic involves significant costs to the public health system, for the sustainability of the pension system and the economic and social stability of the population, especially poor sectors.
Dietary habits of US children and young people are in an intermediate position between a pattern typical Mediterranean and Anglo-Saxon countries. These habits begin in three or four years and down from eleven, with a tendency to consolidate over a lifetime. Childhood is therefore a crucial period for action on feeding behaviour, since the habits acquired at this stage will be determining the future health of the adult.

Family components are another interesting question, 80% of children from obese parents are also obese while, 40% of children from beginning when one partner is obese suffer from obesity and only 10% are obese people when none of the parents is (Delucia, 2009). Some authors refer gene as a factor which is quite controversial, as a practical embodiment of these statistics is that "parents can increase children's parents raise obese children slim and obesity can be slight, it cannot be inherited, but truth is that most children adopt habits of their parents and many children eat the same amount of food, adult obesity for children begins with a mother who is pleased that their children eat in abundance.
