Summary

This report is based on the evidences that Tunisia is among developed countries, which put the country in the rank a middle income country, my arguments will based on what I have seen and experienced during my field trip to Tunisia from the date of November 15 th to November 22nd 2004. There are signs that prove an economic performance about the region comparing to other African, Tourism is one of the economic power which is attracting the western world and other African countries. In this report, I will also talk about infrastructure, environment, education and health, also the place of Tunisia in terms of Economy comparing to other African countries.Tunisia is situated on the Mediterranean, in the centre of the North Africa seaboard. The country shares a border with Algeria to the west and with Libya to the South-east. It looks very small in size comparing to its neighbours but it packs a more powerful economic force than any other country in the southern Mediterranean. Tunisia has a population of 9.9 Million. Tunis is the capital, the country speaks Arabic which the main language and French is also spoken as a commercial language. It formally gained its independence from France in 1956, and become a republic in 1957 with Habib Bourguiba as president for more than three decades.

Objectives

To know the tourism industry in Tunisia

To highlight the experiences of modernization and development in the major places of Tunisia

To find out the positive and negative factors in the development of Tunisia

To identify different sectors of development in major districts of Tunisia

To experience the economic and political progress of an Islamic country like Tunisia after being a place of all types of attractions

Methods And Sources Of Data

The methods that I used to gather information in Tunisia were focused on Interviews, reading information on the streets, taking photos and shooting videos. Sometimes, I used internet to download other useful information and also people that I met on the street or in different areas were giving me their telephone numbers so I have to call them sometime when I need to be clear in some thing which I saw some where. These interviews I had in the field, sometimes with local people, and some of information I have to question other tourists I met at the place.



Limitations

I had very few problems in gathering most of data, because Tunisia is a country where population is willing to show sign for a Multilanguage competition because of frequent visit of tourists, many people could speak at least more than two languages. But Arabic and French are spoken by more than the half of population, so my self I could speak fluently French which lessen my limitations in terms of collecting information, but some limitations I had was when I met with a local who can't speak French at all who could just speak Arabic, I had some times to explain by making some signs so ...
