Graffiti is an act of drawing, sketching, writing or spraying on walls or other public places. The forms of graffiti may vary from simple written texts to elaborative paintings and drawings. The history of graffiti dates back to the ancient Greek and the Roman Empire. In that there were different techniques used for graffiti but in modern times the most commonly used materials for graffiti are markers and spray paints. Graffiti not only demonstrate different expressions but it is also used as a political endorsement and expression of social messages. Sometimes it is also used as a source of advertisement of different products. There is always a disagreement between law enforcement institutions or officials and people who do graffiti as an act of expressing their ideas and those who support it. There are many styles and types of graffiti that are supported as a form of art by many people while at the same time detested by authorities and chunk of public.

People are sometimes confused about the concept that whether graffiti is an art or it is an offensive act. People may appreciate graffiti on public places and on walls of other people but they definitely never tolerate their own walls or other possessions being disfigured through paints and markers without their permission. It not only stains the neighbourhood but also gives a sense of lawlessness and illegal activities. As graffiti is said to be an act that cause damages to the public properties that is why it falls under the category of vandalism actions.
