Introduction

The new era has posed new and differentiating challenges for the developed countries and the super powers of the world. The ever increasing concern and threat to the security of America, has compelled not only the establishment, but also the security forces of the country to employ necessary measures, to ensure the safety of the region and the population.

In order to be effective in the contemporary era, against all the odds which the potential threats and the hard rendering security tasks pose at the nation, it is imperative for the various security agencies, which are functioning in the country, to be highly collaborative, as well as cooperative. The rationale that exists behind the notion of collaboration and cooperation, resides in the betterment of operation and information sharing. The more unimpeded and unobstructed the course, of information sharing and cooperation is, not only between the agencies, but also the between the officers within the agencies, the more the chances are of the efficiency and effectiveness, being high.

Undoubtedly, the scenario has changed to a significant degree after the gruesome attack on not only the national security, but also the naive and innocent civil population of the country. There exists no doubt that the FBI, CIA and other relevant informative agencies, such as ICE, not only found it essential to accelerate their operations, but also raise and enhance the level and figure of their security personnel. The history itself is a manifestation of the fact that since the creation of JTTFs by FBI, and the amplification of their tasks and numbers since 9/11, there has been a significant development in the efficiency of their performance, with respect to the intelligence regarding the potential terrorist threats and activities, and the national security (Steinhardt, 2010).

However, bearing in mind the delicacy of the nature of the function and stance of CIA's and JTTFs operations, it is not surprising that they would prefer to keep the vital information to themselves, rather than sharing with other appropriate agencies. However, there are favourable chances that the collaboration of information and inter-related activities will not only augment the operations, but also the efficiency of the departments.
