Introduction

Virus (computer), a self-copying computer program that interferes with the hardware or computer operating system (the basic software that runs your computer). Viruses are designed to duplicate or replicate them and to bypass detection. Like any other computer program, a virus must be met in order to function, that is, it must be located in computer memory, and the computer should then follow the instructions of the virus. These instructions are called the carrying capacity of the virus. The payload may disrupt or change data files, display inappropriate or unsolicited messages, or cause to crash the operating system.

Computer viruses are activated when the instructions or executable code that run the program open. Once the virus is active, it can be repeated by various means and attempts to infect files on your computer or operating system. For example, he can copy a part of yourself to a floppy disk, hard disk, a legal computer software, or it can attach itself to e-mail messages and spread through computer networks, infecting other shared drives. Infection occurs much more frequently than in the personal computer into a professional mainframe systems, since the software on your PC communicate primarily through floppy disks, email, or unregulated computer networks.

Viruses work, copy, and deliver their payload only when they work. Therefore, if the computer is simply attached to the infected computer network, or downloading an infected program, it will not necessarily infected. Typically, computer users may not consciously run potentially harmful computer code. However, viruses are often trick the computer operating system or the computer user into running a virus program.

Some viruses have the ability to bind to other legitimate programs. This application can occur when the legitimate program is created, opened or changed. When the program starts, so it's a virus. Viruses can also be found on parts of the hard disk or floppy disk that the download and run the operating system at startup, and such viruses are thus satisfied automatically. In computer networks, some viruses hide in the software, which allows the user to log in (access)

Virus types

There are five categories of viruses: parasitic or file viruses, boot sector, multi-partite, macro and script viruses.

Parasitic or file viruses infect executable files or programs on your computer. These files are often referred to as the extension. EXE in the name of a computer file. File viruses leave the program content of the carrier in place, but attach to host such a way that the virus code runs in the first place. These viruses can be a direct action or by a resident. Direct-action virus selects one or more programs to infect each time it runs. Resident virus hides in the computer's memory and infects a particular program when that program is running.
