Wag The Dog

Summary

“Wag the Dog” is about a Washington rotate medical practitioner (Robert De Niro) who diverts the electorate from a presidential sex scandal, this in the last phases of a presidential election, by chartering a Hollywood manufacturer (Dustin Hoffman) to conceive a limited war. You may believe that the video was an answer to Bill Clinton's infamous connection with Monica Lewinsky, but you would be wrong. In detail, truth appeared to imitate fiction! Indeed, less than a month after the video was issued, the Clinton-Lewinsky activity became headline news. Perhaps this was in the stars, for throughout filming, de Niro and Hofmann went out for evening serving of food one evening and ran into President Clinton, all of them simultaneously impersonating for the cameras. Over the course of 1998 and early 1999, as the scandal overridden American government, Clinton appeared to take inspiration from the video and committed US forces in three infantry crusades (http://www.reelviews.net/movies/w/wag.html).

There was Operation Desert Fox, a three-day bombing crusade in Iraq, which took location at the time when the House of Representatives argued items of impeachment against Clinton. There was Operation Infinite Reach, a two of missile hits against supposed terrorist goals in Sudan and Afghanistan; just three days after Clinton accepted in a nationally televised address that he had really had an unsuitable connection with Lewinsky. Thirdly, Operation Allied Force, a months-long NATO bombing crusade against Serbia that started just weeks after Clinton was acquitted in his Senate impeachment trial. No marvel that detractors ascribed that these procedures were an try to divert public vigilance away from the Lewinsky scandal; Serb state TV went so far as to announced “Wag the Dog” in the midst of the NATO attacks on Serbia.
