Waiting List for Surgery

Implementation plan

With this work we propose to tackle the problem of waiting lists surgery of choice both in the book in one patient managing the same access to surgery. We propose therefore to identify criteria that take into account the principles of appropriateness and clinical priorities, not merely chronological. This method contributes to the transparency of the process by identifying certain criteria and also known by the patient, but in no way be considered appropriate instrument to shorten waiting times in total. The national and regional legislation in fact not only recognizes the citizen the right to receive services included in levels according to proper procedures but care also use them in a maximum time provided in advance.  For the purposes of "access rights" guaranteed by law establishing the personal responsibility of the Medical Director of the log reservations specialist outpatient diagnostic performance of instrumental laboratory and hospital. It should identify the criteria for the waiting list (Gerchak, 1996, p.321). As for outpatient specialist services, diagnostic laboratory and instrumental already regulated the conditions of access and maintenance of the register of waiting lists (and CPU specific information systems), this direction is intended to regulate the criteria for management of waiting lists for inpatient admissions, through the adoption of the following implement the scheme:

1. Establishment of a register, separate for inpatient admissions and those with DH and DS, called "Registry Book"

2. Adoption of a regulation for the proper completion and maintenance of the register.

3. Adoption of procedures for compliance with the Right of Access by the patient.

The objectives that we propose are:

a) Standardize the procedures for keeping and compilation of the Register of Book between the different departments of hospitals related to patient's record. Especially with those who are responsible to maintain data of patients (Green, 2003, p.56).

b) To monitor the waiting times for homogeneous groups of need.

c) Have knowledge in qualitative and quantitative waiting lists.

2. Log book

This is a paper trail pages numbered, initialed by the medical director or his delegate, to be held at the OU under the responsibility of the Director of the same or his deputy formally identified.

3. Regulations for the sealing and filling in the register

The Director of the Hospital, or his designee, is responsible for proper keeping of records. The register will be placed in sequential order the names of patients with information requested. Cancellations will not be present or abrasions, when he wants any corrections he needs to affix it and should proceed in the manner prescribed in compilation of medical records (Young, 1965, p.41). The criteria for scrolling through the list are:

1) Sequentially

2) Does not answer the call

3) Unavailability of the patient

4) Priority code clinical / social care

The Directors of Hospital will develop internal guidelines, a copy of which will be given the Health Department, which will be a part of the criteria list which the management expected, bearing in mind that the sequential order may be superseded by the criteria of severity clinical or ...
