1. Select one of the needs of Community South Medical Center and identify at least one strength, one weakness, one opportunity, and one threat (S.W.O.T.) for that need. How does each of these correlate to the overarching issues confronting Community South Medical Center?

One of the needs of the Community South Medical Center is the expansion in the capacity of the emergency beds as there are a lot of patients that are not treated properly because there is no proper arrangement for the patients who arrive in emergency in the community. One of the strength related to this need and that the community possesses is that it has a huge number of nurses and doctors who are efficient and who perform their duty with utmost care. They can make sure that the patients do not suffer due to them. Weakness of the community that also relates to this need is that this community lacks modern equipment and technology that will help it in serving the patients and in treating them well.

One opportunity that the community has that, it can include advanced and modern technology in the community, so that it can ensure that the patients are treated in the right manner and with the latest available equipment. A threat that the community faces are the other emerging communities that are performing better and are providing more suitable care to the patients which is why people are preferring other communities over South Medical Center. The strength, weakness, opportunity and threat relate to the issues that the community is faced with. This is because all the issues are in some way or the other related to the main issue i.e. the expansion of emergency capacity of the community that will help it to cater to a more number of patients that will help the community, as well as, the patients.

2. Is it time to revise the strategic mission and plan of the organization from three years ago or continue as originally planned with a yearly assessment? Should the C.E.O. address the issues confronting Community South Medical Center or wait another year? If so, what should the strategic plan be? If not, why?
