WHOLE LIFE COST MANAGEMENT

Value, Risk and Whole Life Cost Management

Value, Risk and Whole Life Cost Management

Introduction

The Whole Life Cost creates a comprehensive CV Income Statement. The method aims to maximize the overall benefit of the entire product life cycle. Basically the costs and benefits applied in all phases of product life course represented and evaluated in monetary terms. An investment is the unique cost and the recurring costs to be considered. Often, however, only the purchase price is included in the calculation, although this is only about 10 to 30 percent of the life cycle costs.

In this paper we will make decision on Whole Life Cost with five decision methods by comparing an upgrade of roof insulation, the installation of cavity wall insulation and the retrofitting of a solar hot-water panel.

Discussion

Solar Hot-Water Panel

The system of thermal solar panel is to heat water from solar energy. The solar panels contain thermal sensors that convert the sun's energy into heat. This hot water is then used in three possible ways:

As hot water

In a system of heating hot water central;

In a combined system involving hot water and central heating.

Advantages of Solar Thermal

The solar thermal system allows you to inexpensively heat your hot water or heat your home. Solar thermal energy has also many advantages:

Very little impact on the environment;

Limited risk of failure because no mechanical parts;

Very long life with few alterations in performance;

Free energy source;

To avoid disappointment, it is advisable to install a backup system for less sunny periods.

How does it work?

Imagine a coolant tube in direct sunlight. The water contained in the tube is heated by the sun. If, in addition, the colour is dark and the pipe that is placed under a glass, the water is so hot. Solar thermal works on this principle. Except that we replace the coolant tube with heat sensors. Not to be confused with photovoltaic collectors that serves them to produce electricity.

The elements of solar thermal / technology

The installation of solar thermal collectors varies significantly depending on whether the system will only produce hot water or combined hot water and heating. The main elements found in all cases (www.sweettgroup.com).

Sensors

Flat plate collectors

The vacuum tube collectors

The storage tank

The heat exchanger

The hydraulic

The coolant

Case of Prices of solar panels for hot water

On average, prices of solar panels for hot water have a lower cost in relation to solar panels. The system of hot plates, though having its complexities, it has no use of such expensive materials, which makes the price of the solar panels are reduced significantly. Because the price of solar panels for hot water are much more accessible than those that are used to generate electricity, thermal system is one of the most widely used in homes. With the developments and improvements in technology today, we can even find solar thermal performance by moderately reduced costs. But what are the factors that influence the price of solar panels for hot water? It should be mentioned first the basics, that is that size definitely influence the price of hot ...
