Why Humanity Believes In God

?The Roman Catholic Tradition believes that ultimate reality is God. Catholics believe this because of many reasons, such as the Nicene Creed and the Bible which contain information about the ultimate reality. (Morewedge 234-49) Many different stories contribute to the reasoning behind believing in God and how one should live their life.

Ultimate reality applies to the Catholic belief in God. They believe that when eschaton occurs parousia will take place, in the Nicene Creed it states that " he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end." Catholics believe that parousia will only happen when the kingdom of God is fulfilled and the broken covenant is restored. Catholics believe this because in the Lord's prayer it states "(Polkinghorne 108-122) Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Johnson 161-171) Richard P. McBrien states that "the kingdom of God is at the heart and centre of Jesus' preaching," (Alper 1-185) suggesting that the kingdom is present now in every good deed that is done. The covenant was made between God, Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve had promised to be obiedient to God by not eating from the tree of knowledge and they would recieve eternal life, Genesis 2. Catholicism teaches that God is a provider, guider, leader, comforter, brother and friend.This is what God is portrayed as in Psalm 23. God is seen as many things in one. In the hymn, How shall I call you, it states "glory to the Father, the son, and the spirit." (Morewedge 234-49)
