Introduction

The women's suffrage movement in Japan appeared during pre-war days, centering on the Women's Suffrage association, and voices were perceived to construct a "women's center" as a home base for the movement. It was not until in 1946, however, that the plan was recognized. The right to vote and be voted into office was talked upon Japanese women in 1945, when the conflict ended. To commemorate this historic happening, a modest timber "women's center" was constructed in the following year, 1946, where the Fusen Kaikan (Women's Suffrage Center) now stands, thanks to the appeal of Fusae lchikawa, a foremost of the women's suffrage movement.

Although before the Civil War most women could not vote or holdoffice in any of the states.

 In 1848 the nationwide womens' privileges was born in the state of New York.  300 men and women mentioned to as amazons accumulated in a little place of worship in Seneca Falls to discuss womens civiland legan rights.  The action was led by Easterners Elizabeth Cady Satanton and Lucretia Coffin Mott.

By Nov. 1874 ten women were voted into office as county Superintedents of schoos. Elizabeth Boynton Harbert and FrancesE. Willard were two very inportant persons throughout this time of the sufferage movement. Illinois women eventually recived restricted franchise privileges on June 19, 1891 when the state lgislature passed a bill that entitled women to ballot at any election held to elect school authorizeds.

On November 5, 1872 hundreds of women endeavoured to vote in the presidential election. The most famous of these was SusanB. Anthony who was apprehended, convicted and penalised for her effort. Refusing to pay the $100. She stated, "Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God."

On April 6, 1891 the first 15 female votes in Illinois were tabulated.  In 1919 Congress finally passed the Susan B. Anthony Amendment that had first been presented in assembly in 1878, simply:  "The right of people of the joined States to vote will not be rejected or abridged by the joined States or by any State on account of sex."   Illinios was the first state to accept this amendment.  The 19th Amendment to the Constitution took effect on August 26, 1920.  This made the joined States the 27th homeland to allow universal sufferage.
