Introduction

There are conflicts in every organization. To some extent, conflicts are a sign of a healthy exchange of ideas and creativity. However, conflict can be harmful and can cause discontent among employees, reduced productivity, poor customer service, absenteeism and a higher rate of turnover, more stress or work-related - which is worse - litigation based on complaints of harassment or a hostile work environment. Conflicts are an inevitable part of human relationships (Lipsky, Seeber & Fincher, 2003). When the commitment to the mission and long hours go with scarce resources, workplace and community volunteers can give rise to interpersonal conflicts. Conflicts can arise when different views and concerns seem incompatible. If we can accept conflict as a natural part of our emotional landscape - rather than wait (or hope!).
