A Personal Journey

I had made the most important decision of my life. I had decided to go to the United States for further studies. I was happy and enthusiastic about the life ahead and my future, but at the same time, I was sad and nostalgic about leaving my home country, Hong Kong. A place where I had spent my childhood and leaving all the memories behind was a daunting task for me. I had to take this decision for a better future and to make sure that I lead a better and a successful life ahead. With a heavy heart, I left my home country and landed in the United States on the 5th July in 2008. It was eleven in the morning when the plan had reached its destination.

I was exhausted due to such a long flight; however, at the same time, I was excited and anxious. A mixed bag of feelings and emotions was running inside me and it was very difficult for me to understand these feelings, and most importantly respond to them. As I stepped out of the plane, the first thing that I had noticed was the weather. It was a hot sunny day, but it was not humid. As I walked through the aero tunnel into the airport, a million things and questions were going on in my mind. Within no time, I had reached the immigration counter and saw a long queue of people. I was thrilled, as well as, curious upon seeing such a long queue. Soon I got to know that the foreigners were being interrogated before they were allowed in the country. While analyzing the situation, I learned that the interrogation is strict, and if right answers are not provided by the people, they will be taken ...
