The Ad selected for analysis is an advertisement of TAG Heuer which features the tennis star Maria Sharapova. This advertisement was designed by a famous fashion photographer named Patrick Demarchelier.

Target Audience of the Ad

The main target audience of the advertisement is the athletic and powerful women. These women are the professional women who are working hard to attain success and a certain image in the male dominant society. These women demonstrate strength, confidence, elegance and class.

Choices made by the Advertiser

There are several choices that have been made by the advertiser. The major choice used by the advertisers is featuring a famous tennis player in their advertisement as this can be a major appeal for the target audience. Another choice is that they have used such a theme which demonstrates power yet elegance which suits a professional woman. The expression of Sharapova is aggressive and confident which demonstrate that the product is used by powerful, athletic, confident and elegant. Featuring Sharapova in the advertisement was a great move as she already has an image of an athletic and elegant professional woman. This also with the image of the brand TAG Heuer has created a very strong advertisement (Shuster, 2005). The choice made by the advertisers of featuring the tennis star showing off their product, along with the entire theme of the advertisement is creating very appealing impact. The watch and the entire layout and theme of the advertisement are successfully conveying the message of the advertisement that powerful, strong yet elegant women use this product.
