Introduction

Alexander, the Great written by Ulrich Wilcken, but translated by G .C. Richards, this book published in the year 1931 which marked the era when the Nazi's was enjoying the status of power in Germany. This book even today counted among as being the most celebrated book written on Alexander the great, who marked his own way in the course of history. The author Ulrich Wilcken born as stettinian and later came to known as the great German historian as well as papyrologist. The author was very famous for his effective yet lucid writing style, not only served the purpose of critics, but it also worked in favor of the readers. His quality writing style was very prominent in this book, as well. However, as time progressed many new revelations and many ne facts about the life of Alexander the great has surfaced.

This book, however, revolves around the information which was common as per the Revelation of that time and the time preceding it. Author in this 400 page lengthy book describes in detail the events which surrounded the life of Alexander the great, right from the time of his birth July 20,356 BC and events prior to the birth of Alexander the great (Anita, p.32). This book also takes the reader to the times when he was young and learning the art, it also portrays his ability to command military very effectively and ultimately takes on to the journey where he visualizes the concept of unifying the world under his rule. This book also voices the opinion on the legacy of Alexander the great, and the impact it had on different cultures (www.historyofmacedonia.org). There is absolutely no denying about the fact that, from very early stages of his life, he showed the traits of counted among the best military strategist the world has ever seen who once dreamt of conquering the whole world.

The Idea in itself is so magnanimous, the implementation of it would not have the task or even attempted to complete by many rulers, which the world, has ever seen. The life of Alexander, the great is so exploring that many historians in the past have, written about it yet many phases of his life still needs to be explored. Among other ancient historians who wrote about the life of Alexander the great includes the legendary names such as Arrians, Diodorus and Plutarch. Among these historians the accounts and the events cited by the Arrian's seen by the history as being most accurate and close to the reality of the events which surrounded the life of Alexander, the great (Lewis,p.98).
