Introduction

Historically, business was revolutionized by the invention of typewriter. As most technologies of America have seemed to speed up life, same as, typewriter has stimulated life and expanded business. At that time, many companies were aiming at the risk of constructing the machine and contest was increasing. William Austin Burt was born on 13 June, 1792 and died on18 august, 1858. He belonged to United States of America. He was a great legislator, millwright and surveyor. He was the first to make the typewriter in 1829 that is why he is considered as the “father of the typewriter”. The typewriter provided extra efficiency in stenography and it was used by the secretaries throughout the country that's why it ultimately became a representation of woman worker in America. It became the most important device or appliance which was used by woman. The paper is intended to discuss the invention of William Austin Burt's Typewriter and its impact on American society and economy.

Biography of the Inventor

William Burt was a great inventor of the early nineteen century. He was fortunate enough to search something of his interest and pour his rationality to it for inventing new things for the world. He was born on June 13, 1792 in Massachusetts. From childhood, he had an interest in navigation, natural philosophy, mathematics and astronomy, and he swiftly enhanced his mechanical skills. When he was 18 years old, he bought a surveying compass to which he repaired and used for surveying the surrounding area of the home of his parents. In the year of 1822, William Burt moved to Michigan and became U.S Deputy Surveyor at the age of 41 (detroithistorical.org). After short period, he produced his own solar compass and created its surveying debut in the year of 1936. This invention of solar compass became famous as it was small instrument that helped in solving many problems which surveyors usually encountered while utilizing magnetic compass. William Burt invention brought great national and respect fame as a top surveyor.

In the year of 1856, William finally moved from the Michigan countryside to Detroit, later on he died in the following year. William Burt is the famous inventor of the typographer, the contemporary typewriter. This model was greatly admired and praised, and its legacy lived as it placed the foundation for the final expansion of the typewriter. Moreover, he made the Equatorial Sextant that was also used to have a perfect position of a ship in the sea. However, William was the great inventor who created many useful things that helped the economy of America to boost. He will be always known as the man who shifted the land surveying and invented the best professional tool of writing, typewriter.
