John Divola`s Family of Man Fund

This photograph is taken by an American photographer John Divola. This picture was taken in the year 1978. The dimensions of this photograph are 9.75 x 12.5 inch (24.8 x 30.5 centimeter). The credit line of this picture is 'The Family of man Fund'. This picture is a perfect example of representation of real artwork. This art piece is basically a photograph taken by John Divola. It is amongst a series of photographs taken of this particular beach site. The series is known as “Zuma”. This is a picture of a deserted house on a beach named Zuma (Donelly, 2012). I have chosen this picture as it illustrates the fact how bad overcomes the good. It shows that the soothing affect of the sea side gets interrupted by the destructive house`s picture. The firefighters used this house to practice their skills. In the process, they destroyed a beautiful house by the sea side in which tourists and travelers could have stayed and enjoyed the pleasant view of the ocean.

It is a picture of a beachfront property used by the fire-fighting labors to practice their fire-fighting skills. The photographer has covered the walls of this house in graffiti snaps. He has taken picture of the ocean from the interior of the house through cracks and windows. This photograph skillfully put side by side a romantic sunset and sky with a structure of seaside that appears to be completely destroyed. In this picture, sunset has occurred and the sky has turned from blue color to a combination of grey and pink. The shades of colors change as the sky meets the horizon line. The orange color of sun has mingled with grayish color of sky to give such varying shades of colors in the background of the image. The scene outside the window looks truly beautiful and mesmerizing. The sky appears to be filled with soothing streaks of various colors. Everything appears to be still. The waves of the sea in the picture are also smooth instead of being uneven. The waves of the sea have also altered their colors to a grayish shade. This gives a soothing effect to the eye.

Another aspect of this photography is the aspect of melancholy. The photograph shows broken pieces of windows` glasses on the floor. It also shows a torn curtain being blown by the wind of the sea. The destructed and shattered form of the house looking into a sun setting sky gives the feeling of sadness to the viewer of this image. The picture consists of dull colors. The ceiling, floor, walls and windows have gotten completely destroyed due to burning. The photographer has spray painted on the wall of the abundant house with white color in the background a grayish colored 'V' written over it. Sports of spray painting also look to appear on other walls and ceiling of the house.

This piece of art is a visually compelling one. The photograph is saturated with dull colors ...
