Effects of hormones on metabolism

Effects of hormones on metabolism

Introduction

Hormones are the secreted chemicals which are released by endocrine glands. There are enormous effects of hormones on the metabolism. In a body of human, there are many hormones which are released by endocrine glands. These hormones affects on many activities of a human body internally as well as externally. Hormones affect the different functions of the body and it also deeply affects the metabolic system in the body. All the functional organs of the body are interrelated with each other, similarly, hormonal system also affect the metabolism in the body. These affects are in many multidimensional ways, including balancing and regulating the amount of glucose in the body, preventing from over eating and gives feeling of hunger due to which a person takes some food to regularize the metabolic system.

Function of Hormones

According to a recent research in medical sciences, hormones play an important part in regulating all the functions of the body. There are a lot of metabolic changes in the body which takes place due to hormone release from endocrine glands. The functions of hormones can be categorized in such a way that without the role of hormones, a body cannot function in a proper manner. Leptin, insulin and ghrelin are some of the important hormones which play their important part to affect the metabolism of the body. In fact, the body itself requires some changes in it due to changing environment internally (Litwack, G. 1997).
