“Breakfast at Tiffany's

Talking about the novel “breakfast at Tiffany's” is a great novel which is written by Truman Capote. I can easily state that it is one of those novels that truly reflect the real face of life. This novel requires readers who are open minded so that they can read about the context with an open mind and then can later on understand the overall idea. The idea behind this novel is how wrong decisions can distress the life of an innocent and how things can turn out to be. It always calls for great thinking skills before major steps are taken in life.

The story of “Holly Golightly” is one that has captured the imaginations of pent-up housewives for years, just dreaming of the day they can run away to New York City and live among the socialite class. Capote did do a fantastic job of painting an image of “Holly” in our minds, and certain aspects of her have become immortalized in American society; i.eThe fact that he imagined Marilyn Monroe while writing her does change my perceptions of the character.

So far the impact of “Holly” on the American society is very positive indeed. The language that has been used in the book is not so difficult, but the style of representation has been critical at areas where it was quite hard to pictorize the situation. “Holly” as per my opinion was pretty selfish and somehow disconnected from the world, living in a world of its own. “Holly” was a lady who has had problems adjusting in the society as she was quite the opposite of what is now. The society back in that era was quite backward, and the norms that were emphasized by the society were supposed to be followed strictly. People, who used to go against the society, could not gain social acceptance and had a very hard time surviving in a situation like this.

Since the life of the early society was being discussed, the days when novella was released, were the days of the cultural clash between the societies, and those years of 1950's. When the year of 1950 is discussed, a person who has had analyzed or researched about those days, would clearly understand as to what has happened. During these years, a few wars broke and ended between countries, and just because of this the countries were facing much of a problem. The image and the life of house wife's in those days were pretty conservative and simple. The life of the house wife today is at a vast difference then the life of the house wife of the earlier age. A woman who was majorly occupied with her house work today is much of opposite to that. A woman today is usually after her career and socializing, where as the woman of the earlier age had nothing to do with socializing publicly or doing jobs. Even if jobs were being done by women, they to were of a very low ...
