The purpose of this assignment is to choose an organization with global operations and discuss the contemporary issues in the current business prospects. For the purpose, Apple is chosen as the company. Apple has been one of the most successful companies worldwide, which grew very rapidly, due to its flexibility to adopt various changes according to the environment. Apple started with only developing computers only, but now it has produced different ranges of products and services including Ipads, Iphones, Ipad etc. Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne had founded Apple in 1976. Ronald Wayne at that time was not satisfied with company's performance and sold out 10% shares of the company for 800 dollars. These 10% shares are now worth equal to $540 million. Apple is one of the biggest corporations of USA and its headquarters located in different cities of USA including California and Cupertino.
Chinese Economy
When economies are facing a difficult situation in recession around the world, Chinese Economy is expanding by double digit. The Chinese currency, Yuan has been appreciating, benefiting the economy. It will also create problems for countries such as America, as the trade deficit of America has been increasing due to being a major trading partner of China. The imports of the country increased to $119.2 billion. The exports continued to grow by 34% (Deng, 2009, pp. 14-26).
Chinese economy, now considered one of the best around the world. Since the revolution, the economy has been witnessing a profitable growth of double figures consistently. This growth is attributed mostly to the privatization of the state owned companies as those companies were able to generate good results and earn huge revenues for the country (Yueh, 2010, pp.51-57. China has always opted for an expanding approach. It is heavily involved in foreign direct investment, which has contributed significantly in the growth of the economy. China has a nominal GDP of $5.93 trillion, and it is the second largest economy of the world after America. The major exports of China include Machinery and Equipment, Garments and accessories, and High Tech Products.
China is the fourth- most-visited country in the world. It had a total of 50.9 million visitor's inbound international visitors in 2009. It is the second largest trading power after US, with a total trade of US$ 2.21 trillion. It has highest foreign reserves in the world. At the end of 2010, the foreign reserves of China have increased to US $2.85 trillion, witnessing an increase of 18.7% over the last year. The country is currently holding securities of worth equal to $1.6 trillion. It received Foreign Direct Investment of US $92.4 billion in the year 2008 alone.
