Research Purpose

Cardiac arrhythmia is a condition in which contractions of muscle infarction are irregular, and the frequency falls outside the safe range of 60-100 beats per minute (Foxall &Blackburn, 2010). This condition can often be life-threatening, although this is not the case. Normal heart rate is determined by the sinus node. If the sinoatrial node fails to operate properly, it can lead to the activation of secondary centers of excitation and, consequently, to change the heart rate. Another important factor is a pathway from the resort excitation pulse: when the abnormal function or if there are additional pathways may cause arrhythmias.

Research Approach

Cardiac arrhythmias are often detected by non-specific means, such as the auscultation of heart sounds with a stethoscope, and indirectly by examination of peripheral pulse rate. These methods usually cannot diagnose the specific arrhythmia, but give the term heart rate and indicate whether the rhythm is regular or not. Not every electrical activity gives contraction, which would be heard and felt for a pulse wave circuit and, therefore, premature beats or not giving proper cardiac cycle, they are perceived as "abandoned" cramps (Garratt, 2001).

The simplest specific diagnostic test which gives an assessment of heart rhythm is the electrocardiogram (ECG).
