Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to undertake discussion about the services and support that are provided to the people with dementia and to evaluate the fit between the experience of people with dementia and services provided. This case is specifically evaluated from the perspective of people with dementia who belong to different ethnicity. First of all there is a section of introduction. This section talks from the background perspective and slowly and gradually introduces the topic that is to be discussed. Before delving in profound and in-depth discussion about the provision of services to people with dementia it is imperative to grasp understanding about the basic concept of the dementia. So, the next section is introduction about dementia and basic definitions about the concept are discussed. To talk about the experience of people with dementia there is a small section that highlights views about the how people with dementia are supported. This discussion shows that treatment of dementia focuses on pathology and symptom management while the influence of psychosocial factors and physical environment is underestimated. Thus, there is a need to look into the aspect of psychosocial factors and influence of physical environment. The next part is the most important part as it discusses the provision of services and care to the people with dementia and who belong to different ethnic backgrounds. People with dementia who are from different ethnicities do not get enough services and care. Moreover, they also have lower level of awareness about dementia. The last part is the section of conclusion and recommendations. All the important points that are discussed in the paper are concluded in the conclusion and on this basis few strategies are recommended.

Life is beautiful! But we also know the fact that life is not a bed of roses. There are different things that destroy and diminish the beauty of life. Sometimes a crippling disease can take away all the pleasures and joy of life. One such crippling ailment is of dementia. Over the period of time there has been an increase in the percentage of people suffering from this disease. This is an illness that affects the well being and deteriorates health of an individual suffering from it day by day. Whenever an individual suffer from any sort of illness he or she relies on health service providers. Various members of the health care setting play their part in improving mental and physical well being of an individual. Similarly people with dementia also need supervision and care of healthcare professionals. Unfortunately, the provision of services and care for people with dementia has been criticized. This case is worse when it comes to the provision of services and care for people with dementia who belong to different backgrounds and ethnicity.
