Introduction

Prison is a place of detention where there are individuals who have broken the rules of society /law. It aims to incarcerate them to reintegrate into society once their punishment ends. Historically, American prisons have utilized diverse types of isolation, quiet, and coercive remedy of prisoners, all of the supposed concern of time, the issue of these prisoners into humanity, both men and women are more adept to reside in harmony with other ones, than it was before prison. The prison or jail usually is a facility authorized by the government. It is the place where they are incarcerated the inmates and is part of the system of justice in a country or nation. They can be plants in the imprisonment of prisoners of war. Part of the prison system, which is the set of prisons and the respective organization that manages.

This paper discusses about the treatment of Prisoners in the United States along the issues that are being faced within these correctional institution that became the cause of the death of the Correctional Officer that highlighted that these prison facilities are facing some problems that are needed to be addressed promptly in order to not only provide safety to the staff level of that correctional institute but also to the inmates that are being held there for rehabilitation purpose. It also includes the history and origin of prisons, the emergence of the prison took place with a solitary confinement in the treatment of criminal behavior. The overcrowding, racism, health concerns violate the human rights. Thus, incarceration is not only a social and political issue but also has become a public health problem, since many people are jailed each year. The prison today is a legacy of these ideals are not mutually exclusive, the prison is justified more or less according to the places and periods in terms of these four ideals of confinement. It is found that the utilitarianism theory calls for strict punishment keeping in view an eye for an eye philosophy. However punishment becomes void if the potential benefits of punishment (deterrence, incapacitation, rehabilitation) outweigh the suffering inflicted on the condemned. On the other hand, the unethical treatment can be rectified using the relativism approach which goes for the societal perception of a particular issue.

Discussion
