Physical mistreatment

The concept of physical mistreatment or physical abuse pertains to any sort of infliction of physical harm by a caregiver or a parent on the child. This harm may not be inflicted intentionally, and physical abuse, in most of the situations, refers to the end result that is usually unintentional and occurs due to the corporal punishment or harsh disciplinary methods. These ways and methods are the escalation to the extent of physical injury and extreme mistreatment. The concept of physical abuse is usually simultaneous to any other type of child maltreatment where the child may be physically or verbally insulted.

Case: Incident

Recently, the entire student body at Central had an adventurous field trip and was returning. As I welcomed teacher chaperones and students back into the building, I was pulled aside by a teacher who requested me a private meeting. In the meeting, I was informed by her that, during the trip, a student was physically mistreated by a fellow staff teacher. The teacher's attitude with the kid was rough and harsh too and she beaten him up badly. This incident disturbed everyone during the trip and the students really got upset due to what had happened with one of their colleagues.

The incident took place when tow kids were caught arguing and fighting with each other during the trip. However, one of them was becoming harsh and rude with the other boy. The teachers tried to stop both of them at first, but they did not listen. The stronger boy kept pulling other's hair and collar out of his anger and frustration. Suddenly, one of the teachers got angry and interrupted by hitting the stronger of the two by her fits and then slammed the student face-first to the floor. Then, she dragged him to the bus and detained him there for the entire trip. This physical mistreatment was sufficiently harsh to scare other students and make them stay quiet for the rest of the trip.

Addressing the Incident

This incident, and other such incidents in the similar category, needs to be addressed properly in order to prevent them from happing again. In our case, the state should yank the teacher's license immediately and then banned from the school. The Department of Education should look into this issue and apply legal case on the incident in order to obtain reason for reprimanding students in a harsh manner on no grounds. In order to save the child from falling into trauma of such situation, he should be immediately removed from the abusive environment, and taken to the physician or counselor for a detailed report on what might have happened. The incident should be reported to the appropriate public health authority and, if needed, then the case may be taken to the court (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2013). Moreover, if the child has physical injuries, they need to be professionally photographed with no delays and the prints should be kept by the parents and school management for ...
