Introduction

Having existed for more than 200 years, the Bill of Rights in the US Constitution promises Americans basic rights such as freedom of press, freedom of religion and freedom of expression and speech. Even though these are the constitutional rights of the American citizens, certain restrictions have been placed on them over the last 50 years or more - the practice of censoring material in high schools stands as a prime example of this.
