Introduction

Well in response to external circumstances or by considerations related to our personal evolution, sometimes we think it necessary to make decisions that involve drastic changes in the way we think or act. We are creatures of habit and tend to respond the same way to similar stimuli, but also have the capacity to react differently to usual, either because the environment we currently require different responses (more appropriate to the situation or more compliant our way of seeing things) and because we want to improve as individuals and be happier (Anderson, 2001). In this paper I am going to discuss what actually changing for good means and how has my life changed or how have I changed for good after reading essential book on change by Prochaska.

Change for good means leaving some habits for the self betterment or betterment of the people around us. Though leaving those habits is difficult and can be frustrating and challenging. James Prochaska in his book stated that people have to move through each of six stages (Precontemplation, Contemplation, Preparation, Action, Maintenance, and Termination) for successful and major change (Prochaska, 1994). This is something Jesus says, "we must do. Something we must do if we want to go to heaven and know the meaning of life. Something you must do to change, to change for good. Here in this paper I am sharing my personal experience of change, I passed through these five stages of change. Few years ago I used to be over weight (243lbs), bad looking, rude, and unfriendly to people which affected various relationships of my life specially my professional life because I was working in the field of sales and marketing. I had to meet and greet different people with smile and I most time been rude and unfriendly with people because my weight. initially I also avoided this problem because I never discovered it as a problem but when I lost many sales because of this attitude, I started to consider myself a loser, but gradually I realized that this bad attitude is because of my weight. In this way I transformed from first stage of change to second.
