Introduction
The proposal will evaluate business operations of a company and after the review propose an implementation of a change, such as Small IT system. The company, which will be reviewed, is a growing SME. The company provides online services to its national and international customers including call centre services and online research services. The net profit of the company last year was USD 2.4 million. Our team recently visited the company to meet the cross functional team. The company has implemented small IT systems in different departments. The company has grown at an average growth rate of 7% in past 5 years.
Background of the Problem
Although the company has been very successful in its operations, in past 5 years, the growth in demand has pushed the company top management to streamline operations in order to increase efficiency in operations. The main problem is the time and effort required to share interdepartmental information across departments. Last week, the company missed three orders because of the delay in sharing information between sales department and research department. The increase in demand means that each employee is dealing with more customers, and the employee has a deal with more information than before. The future forecasts of the company show a further increase in demand in next two years. The company has hired more people in order to keep up the pace with growth. However, now the company is falling short of space and any new investment in property is not possible in next two three years (Watson, 2010).
Facing these problems, the only way the company can keep up meeting increased demand is by increasing operational efficiency by integrating departments to improve the flow of information within the organization.
