Introduction

Child abuse has been regarded as a problem faced across the globe; however, this problem has been receiving tremendous attrition in West Countries. The term child abuse is defined as an intention of behaving in such a way that causes psychological or physical harm to children. The term child abuse covers a huge range of actions and behaviors that asset physically by parent or significant other to neglect basic needs of child which may include, food, shelter, education, love, attention etc. Conventionally, parents of significant others have been delegated by the social order with the duty of offering care and leading their children. It has been noticed by the observations that parents and significant others differ in their capacity of caring and making their children secure (Weisz, et al., 2005).

Without the proper awareness of child abuse and neglect and the involvement of everyone, this issue will continue to raise our eyebrows (Wortley & Smallbone, 2006). Child abuse and neglect can be defined as any current behavior or failure to behave on the parent or significant other's part resulting in serious physical, psychological or emotional harm, or death. Furthermore, child abuse or neglect can also be defined as to act or remove an act failing to nurture the upbringing of children or child (Ryan, Leversee & Lane, 2011; Fisher & Harrison, 2013).

DESCRIPTION OF POLICY

According to Article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (20 November 1989), child abuse refers to "all forms of violence, injury or physical and mental abuse, neglect or negligence, bad maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual violence.

Child Abuse and Neglect

When it comes to child abuse and neglect the social categories that may be affected are males and females, all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds. To me child abuse and neglect has no color, shape, or size it just have an impact on the effects of children, adolescents, the adult survivors and society. The economic and social cost of child neglect and abuse can be challenging to approximate. Cost such as medical and hospital treatment of the wound sustained as a result of physical abuse and promote care cost ensuing from the removal of children when that cannot remain secure with their families. Both indirect and direct cost can cause an impact on our society and the economy (Patel, Araya, Chatterjee, Chisholm, Cohen, De Silva & van Omm, 2007).

Agencies that take part in investigating and preventing child abuse in today's time are the Family and Protective Services, SCAN, and several more agencies that are committed to stopping child abuse and neglect. There is nowhere in history that agencies like these exist.

A way of improving or attempting to improve child abuse or neglect is the establishment of Child Protective Services (CPS) a division within state and local social agency (Weisz, Sandle, Durlak & Anton, 2005).
