Childcare

ASSIGNMENT 3

Question 1: Explain in detail the importance of partnership with parents for all aspects of the childcare service.

Childcare is in vogue these days. It's not that it wasn't given much importance before; however, there is more awareness regarding childcare these days, than it was before. There are so many institutes that offer parents with an opportunity to leave their child in the hands of good care, while the parents can take a break. Working parents are the prime target of all the childcare institutes, and there are different programs that are designed keeping in mind the busy schedules that the parents have. In order to provide a better care to the children, it is essential that the childcare service providers must stay in touch with the parents and involve them. All the critical decisions at this stage of a child can't be taken without the involvement of the parents, (Baumrind, 1967).

All the major aspects of childcare require the participation of the parents, in identifying the needs of the child, and working closely for designing various programs and schedules to ensure that the child is given the best care that there is. Partnering with the parents is also essential because the parents, especially the mothers have a very deep understanding of their children, and can come up with suggestions that can be valuable for the child, (Spock, 1946). Parents can stop worrying of having to travel and go for work, and instead depend on the child care service providers, who can do the job of taking care of the child. Parents and the care takers need to be honest and have a strong bond, as there is a child involved, (Hofferth, 1991). At care centres, a child is given the best attention that he can, and there are a lot of opportunities for learning and development. If there is no or little involvement of the parents, then the perceived outcomes can't be achieved, and the whole idea of developing a child and giving parents a break will simply go wasted.

Question 2: Describe in detail how a partnership with parents is set up and maintained.

Parents and child care takers together can make huge differences in the way how a child is brought up in the society. For this purpose, it is essential that the parents and the care takers must work closely; they must develop a partnership and maintain good relations. In order to set up a sound and solid partnership with the parents, it is essential that communication must be effective. Both need to be honest to each other as it is for the good of child. Communication, in this regard must be two way, (Peisner-Feinberg et.al, 2001). The parents must give their feedback to the care takers, as to what they feel about their services, and what developmental changes they notice in their child. The relationship can be maintained if parents and the care takers meet regularly. Moreover, in maintaining the partnership with the parents, it ...
