Part 1: Theory of Classroom Management

The aim of this paper is to provide a framework and outline regarding my current beliefs of managing a class room effectively. This plan specifically addresses the theories of well known researchers regarding an effective class room management. The practices and theories discussed in the plan reflect my approach for managing the class rooms and the method of collaboration with the students. The outline of class room management plan is described in the document that will be implemented practically.

An effective class room is the one in which students and teachers collaborate with each other because the aim of teaching is to make students learn new things rather than keeping it as a formal duty. The learning and development is the right of each individual and it requires a number of tactics and strategies to be implemented in the schools that would result in increased and enhanced abilities, skills and knowledge of the students. One of the approaches for progressing the learning and development process among the students requires the development of an effective class room that promotes learning and development. The class room management process is based upon the standard management theories and practices. The ideas of some of the theorists who have presented the management theories include Skinner, Carl Rogers, Jacob Kounin, Alfie Kohn, Jeanne Gibbs, Jere Brophy, Harry Wong, Jones, Mendler and Curwin, Glasser, Gordon, Hewitt, Canter, Dreikurs and Bennett. The need for class room management emerges due to the issue of discipline in the schools. A weak framework for managing the students lead to indiscipline among the students and an environment of disruptive behavior is created in the schools and class rooms. The indiscipline causes ineffective class rooms and the process of learning and development is hindered due to the lack of discipline. The behavioral management theory of Skinner describes the approach towards behavioral management. It can be applied in the class rooms through the incorporation of systematic reward system that reinforces the students towards positive behavior. The discipline and management is the process through which students are redirected in a path of orderliness. It results in the enhanced learning and development process of the students and helps the teacher in delivering the information and knowledge efficiently. The philosophy of education is not just to make students cram the information but its purpose is to open the minds of the students towards critical thinking process through which they can evaluate the things themselves and learn from the experiences of others. The theories of the researchers who have focused on the aspect of class room management through preventive approaches have been studied in order to form a sound foundation for the effective class room management plan. These authors have discussed the importance of self actualization and experiential learning in their theories.
