Introduction

Changes in health care profession, community need and innovative learning strategies like problem based learning (PBL) and community based medical education (CBME) demands students to master a range of prescribed clinical skills. Timely acquired core skills will enable them to utilize it while doing their posting in the ward or paying visits to the community or working as interns in hospitals after graduation and later as medical officer in primary health units (Lee, 2007, 796).

There has been a global awareness in training clinical skills away from traditional hospital and ambulatory teaching. Clinical skills centre (CSC) is one of the contexts besides a number of other options available. The need for this change has come from within and outside medical education.

Different people suffer from different crippling diseases, sickness and illness. An individual can suffer either from physical or mental illness. Whenever an individual suffer from any sort of illness he or she relies on health service providers. Various members of the health care setting play their part in improving mental and physical well being of an individual. One of the most significant components of health care service providers are nurses.

Clinical skills are required for various health issues; one of the most common issues is high blood pressure. Blood pressure measurement is a frequent, essential clinical skill that nursing students often have difficulty performing, relating to deficits in knowledge and correct measurement techniques. This paper will discuss techniques to perform, holistic factors, treatment options and issues related to high blood pressure (Kessler, 2001, 218).

Discussion

In general, clinically skilled nursing can be defined as the special branch of nursing that deals with a patient who suffer from mental high blood pressure. A nurse can be classified as a clinically skilled nurse on the basis of the role of the patient as compared to the location of a patient. It also can be assessed by the fact that the patient is suffering from some sort of psychiatric illness (Burt, 1995, 60).

The role of a clinically skilled nurse is to amalgamate art of human behavior with the framework of science and medicine and present this in nursing practice. A clinically skilled nurse coordinates with other medical staff and interdisciplinary health treatment teams for the mental and emotional well being of a patient(Hurley , 2003, 43).
