Introduction

The (CBT) Cognitive Behaviour Therapy has now been widely in practice by mental health nurses. This therapy has gained popularity in United Kingdom and has been influenced by the introduction of (IAPT) Improving Access to Psychological Therapies, which is a program initiated by NHS in order to enhance the quality of providing service and care to the patients who are suffering from the mental health issues, for instance; Anxiety, Depression and Schizophrenia etc. Therefore, the main focus of this essay will be on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and its use in dealing with the patients of mental health problems. This paper will also discuss the historical background of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and its approaches which can be sued for work with an individual with such mental disorder (Whitehill, 2009, pp. 51-57).

Historical and Developmental Background of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive-behavioural therapy is based on the idea, according to which emotions and behavior is not determined by the situation in which an individual actually finds himself/herself, and his/her perception of the situation. According to this therapy our thoughts are at the heart of our emotional experiences and subsequent actions for them. Usually, these bad ideas are realized, are taken for granted, or denied completely. Cognitive behavioural therapy aimed at correcting such distortions or thinking errors, and helps create more adaptive patterns of behavior.

Effectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Scientific proof of the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy for depression, panic attacks, various phobias, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive (obsessive-compulsive) disorders. For people prone to introspection and reflection, cognitive-behavioral therapy is the best means of psychological care. For mild to moderate severity of disorders of cognitive-behavioral therapy is comparable to the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy and long-term superior to it because, having acquired experience in psychotherapy to overcome anxiety and depression, a person learns to recognize them coming and take the necessary measures, and perhaps even prevent the disorder (Turkington , Rathod & Mehta, 2006, pp. 36-40).

Anxiety Disorder is a human tendency to experience anxiety. Most human anxiety associated with waiting for the social consequences of its success or failure. Anxiety disorder is closely related to stress. On the one hand, anxiety, and anxiety are signs of stress, but on the other hand, the initial level of anxiety determines individual sensitivity to stress. Just as stress, anxiety cannot be unambiguously good or bad.
